HTML/CSS

Although I had prior experience using HTML and CSS through a mini session at the UH Library - Technology Lab, I received a "refresher" in this course and learned a few things. For example, I learned the basics of making a website and the inner-workings behind HTML and CSS.

Out of the five assignments that I had in this module, Codecademy taught me the most. The interactive website forced me to practice writing code before moving on to the next unit. W3Schools was helpful and had the most information; however, it was difficult to practice without having millions of tabs open at once. Codecademy, on the other hand, had me focus on one thing and built up on it throughout the unit.

The Codecademy tutorial took me longer to finish, but it was definitely worth it. Students who were exposed to HTMl/CSS before this module as well as those who were not both benefit from this lesson. Learning the basics of the two markup languages that make up 99% of websites on the Internet is important because it provides understanding of how they are made and work. Included below are screenshots I took while completing the Codecademy tutorial. The second one is an example of how to incorporate images into your website which helped me tremendously.
